In Samburu, a training program led by EcoHAI has empowered local farmers to adopt sustainable agriculture practices, transforming their livelihoods and combating climate change. Over 500 farmers have learned techniques like crop rotation, organic composting, and water-efficient irrigation.

The initiative started two years ago when Samburu farmers faced declining yields due to erratic rainfall and soil degradation. EcoHAI introduced training workshops to teach climate-smart farming methods tailored to the region’s semi-arid conditions.

These practices have increased crop yields by 40%, enabling families to grow drought-resistant crops like sorghum and cowpeas. The program also promotes agroecology, reducing reliance on chemical fertilizers and fostering healthier soils.

By involving women and youth in the training, the project has strengthened community resilience. Samburu farmers are now sharing their knowledge with neighboring communities, creating a ripple effect of sustainable agriculture across the region.
